Chez Papa is inspired by food culture that we the owners grew up with in the South of France. Growing up, dinner time was an integral part of family life, it was the only opportunity we had to be together and share our everyday experiences. It was always a time to relax and feel comfortable in a very warm and familiar atmosphere and enjoy good, simple home cooking. We were a family of only four but it seemed like we were forty; singing, making jokes, arguing, crying, but mostly laughing. There were times when I hated those dinners but they are now the most precious memories of my life.
Having been in the restaurant business for eighteen years I have seen many styles and ideas on the dining experience, but my dream has always been to recreate and share these types of evenings I enjoyed as a child in South of France. The atmosphere is warm, friendly, and boisterous much like the temperament of the people of Provence. The food is simple, unpretentious, and most importantly authentic. We strive to recreate the simple yet subtle flavors of Provence cooking. The wine is an integral part of the meal and the conviviality of sharing life.
The team at Chez Papa is almost entirely French and specifically from the south and we take great pride in sharing with you our culture in a very warm and friendly way. We are not, and do not pretend to be a fine dining restaurant. We aspire to create a more relaxed, more casual setting where everyone can feel at home. We hope that you find this when you come to Chez Papa and that you enjoy your experience with us.

Other menu items include Asian Rice Bowls, Meal-size Salads, Sushi Rolls, Fish and Chips and starters including our popular Hawaiian Poke and famous Cabo Calamari. Our 9th Ave location also offers patio seating and a full bar with lounge. Enjoy a wide selection of wines from the New World, contemporary island cocktails or one of our many beers on tap from around the Pacific. The semi private room offers sit down seating for groups up to 40 and a casual standing reception for 55. Our Executive Chef, can customize a menu to meet the needs of any occasion.

“Paréa” in Greek means a group of friends, guests, or company and typically implies close friends and/or family gathering together to share their experiences, their philosophies on life, and their values and ideas. The time spent with paréa is really meant for the growth of the human spirit, the development of friendships, and the exploration of ideas to enrich our quality of life that is all too brief in time. In Greece, a group of paréa represents a long-lasting circle and cycle of life nourished by the people who participate.
Quality time spent together amongst Greeks, as with most Mediterranean people, is never done without the sharing of home-cooked plates, whether small or large, and a welcoming beverage, most often a glass of wine. To have it any other way would be “amartía,” a sin. At Paréa Wine Bar and Café, we share this same philosophy and live that same way of life every day. When customers come into our home, we want them to feel like they are visiting with close friends. We want them to bring their close friends and spend quality time together over some home-cooked plates and a great bottle of wine, to relax and share. They should never feel rushed and always feel welcome. Our guests will always be treated like our “paréa.”
